Jaipur Watch Company was an entrepreneurial luxury watch brand that was aiming to break into a challenging and populated Indian watch market. This highly competitive market space is dominated by heavy spending, well-known or funded international brands that had consistently spent on traditional media. As a result, they were better known to market influencers and consumers. After multiple meetings with Gaurav, the strategy devised encompassed creative communication and strategic partnerships that would engage and influence key decision-makers in India.
India is the birthplace of modern polo. The modern game of polo is derived from Manipur, where the game was known as ‘Sagol Kangjei’, ‘Kanjai-bazee’, or ‘Pulu’.
Miniature paintings in the Mehrangarh Museum reveal that the Rathores first played polo with the Mughals but it did not become a passion with them till much later, in the Nineteenth Century. The blood-rushing charges, the all-or-nothing riding-off, the frantic change of horses… it was all there and only four years later the Jodhpur Team brought home its first trophy, The Rajputana Challenge Cup of 1893. By the turn of the century Jodhpur had become an important polo center, and it would remain so till 1949; when the city boasted no less than six polo grounds; rivaling Calcutta, the oldest polo club in the world, by the sheer number of players.
